Sea Ducking on Tangier Sound is incredible. Old Squaws, Common Scoters, Surf Scoters and White Winged Scoters can all be taken in this area. With an abundance of food and shallow flats for the birds to feed on they gather here in enormous flocks. Mid-November is prime for this sport.
12 Gauge Shotguns with 3" or 3-1/2" shells are recommended. Shells with BB's or #2 shot are typically used although we have had excellent success with #4 shot when the birds are decoying well.
All of our decoys are top-of-the-line full body Herter's and a typical spread consists of 6 to 10 dozen set out all around the boat. Kingfish II handles beautifully and is comfortable and stable underway.
